A Little Girls Dream
Ever since childhood, I knew I wanted to work in fashion. Dolls, bears and little neighborhood girls were dressed several times a day with costume changes that had more of a resemblance of a Parisien fashion show than that of a little girl at play.
That creative seed came to light during my studies at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, and blossomed the last twelve years that I’ve been a Stylist for magazines, commercials, and my role as Fashion Director for Jackie Magazine. That time allowed me to work with increadible talents of the Dutch fashion scene, and took me all over the world (Morocco, Kenya, Seychelles, Bali, Copenhagen), but overall it taught me the ability of how to really understand a specific audience’s fashion needs.
My Sixth Sense
I’ve found that I love to help people figure out their own unique style. Many do not even know where to begin when they walk into a store. Or can never find what to wear in their own closets. Often it’s because they don’t know what it is they have. Through my years of experience, with all kinds of body types and peronalities, I have really developed a sixth sense to know what works and what doesn’t.
I have a quick editing method with my clients of going through a closet and knowing exactly what elements would need to be added or taken out to complete the whole. Then we shop- they go to the dressing room, I go to the racks – and eventually we were both standing at the checkout counter with really big smiles on our faces.
Ibiza: My Dream
During one of my Personal Shopping sessions in the city, it suddenly hit me. If I love this so much and this is so natural for me, why don’t I do this in Ibiza? A perfect next chapter in my career.
It has always been a big dream of mine to live and work in Ibiza along with my husband and two year old daughter, who I would love to see grow up in the sun.
So numerous mood boards, fifty phone calls and a huge leap of faith later, I’m happy to say Styled by Renu, has now become a reality. Working in wonderful Ibiza, my new home, doing what I do best, living the dream…and I could not be happier.
