As a little girl I already knew I wanted to end up working in fashion. As I grew up I pursued in this and studied Fashion Design at Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Ever since, it has been 12 years already, I have been working as a stylist for fashion magazines and commercials. One of my longterm jobs was as Fashion Director for Dutch fashion magazine Jackie. Besides my work I used to help my friends with shopping. They would go into the fittingroom and I would pick out clothes for them in the store. After a while, I figured that I might as well use my passion and do for a living what I do best.
Many people don’t know what to do and where to start when going into a store. It looks like I have (created?) this sixth sense that enables me to see and know in a split second what works and what doesn’t. Fashion was my first love, it’s running through my vains and I love every aspect of styling people. Either for photo shoots or personal styling.
Many of my customers own tons of clothes in there wardrobe and still feel like “they’ve got nothing to wear”. The main reason is that they don’t know what they have. So I start with ordening their closets and make a selection of what has to exit and what is good to stay. Then I will start sorting all items by color or type of item. Then, I make a ‘to shop list’ of what the customer’s closet is lacking and off I go to get them.
Personally, I have a signature style, but for my customers I select a look that suits their own style and that feels comfortable for them. It’s great to see how people look and dress after a while, when they taught themselves what to buy, what suits their figure and how to combine different items.
To do all of this on the isle of Ibiza, that one place in the world that enchanted me from the first time we ‘met’, has been my favorite little girl’s dream. Living in Ibiza with my husband, to see our 2-year old daughter growing up in the sun while doing what I love most: helping others to find and create their personal style and being occupied with anything that comes with fashion.
So here I am, living my dream..
